I feel glass Evacuated tube systems are fragile ,what are the chances of this ,
hail stones in bangalore , or lets say a hawk or kite drops a 100 gm mouse or 30 gm bone from a height of 40 mts the impact force can be equivalent of 400kg or freak winds carrying tree branches. the toughened glass on Flat plate collector has a higher chance of withstanding impacts compared to thin ETC.

I agree that is an dis-advantage - though remote ( in Tube system)
But I guess advantage are more - cost/require less sunshine to heat, compact,lesser heat loss.
