Any news regarding the MUDA site allotments? There was going to be some announcement this month, but we are close to end of the month and no news yet. There was some statement from MUDA commissioner C G Betsurmath that only people who have applied 5 times or greater will be allotted. It would be helpful if any of Mysore members can provide any additional information in this regard.

The countdown for the allotment of sites developed by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has begun with the Authority reaching the final stage of distributing the sites created at three layouts — R.T.Nagar, Lalithadri Nagar and Chamalapura. With the data entry of applications submitted for sites and scrutiny nearing completion, the aspirants' long-cherished dream of owning a residential plot in Mysore will be realised soon.
MUDA has announced that the site allotment will be done in a transparent manner and a system has been developed in which there is absolutely no scope for wrongdoing. A whopping 85,748 people have applied for 3,099 sites in the three layouts.
MUDA Commissioner C.G. Betsurmath told The Hindu that the sites will be allotted either by the end of February or early March as the process with regard to the allotment was going on at a brisk pace. A seniority list or a master list of site aspirants was being prepared taking into consideration the number of attempts made for the sites.
For the first time, all the applications had been scanned and the data had been stored. The applications have been classified according to the layout, site dimension, and the category under which the site had been sought, according to Mr. Betsurmath. The Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) collected from the applicants would be returned immediately to those who do not get the allotment, the Commissioner said.
MUDA sources say that those who had applied more than five times had a fair chance of getting it.
Prices fixed
The price fixed for the sites is as follows:
R.T. Nagar: Rs. 19.01 lakh for a 50 x 80 site; Rs. 10 lakh for a 40 x 60 site; Rs 3.80 lakh for a 30 x 40 site; and Rs 1.36 lakh for a 20 x 30 site.
Lalithadrinagar: Rs. 16.19 lakh for a 50 x 80 site; Rs. 8.61 lakh for a 40 x 60 site;, Rs. 3.24 lakh for a 30 x 40 site; and Rs. 1.16 lakh for a 20 x 30 site.
Chamalapura: Rs. 7.25 lakh for a 50 x 80 site; Rs. 3.85 lakh for a 40 x 60 site; Rs. 1.45 lakh for a 30 x 40 site; and Rs. 50,000 for a 20 x 30 site.
To meet the demand, MUDA has proposed six new layouts to distribute nearly 15,000 sites. The process of acquiring nearly 1,500 acres of land surrounding Mysore had been taken up and it is in various stages. The six new layouts are Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Nagar, Swarna Jayanthi Nagar, Lalithadrinagar 2nd Stage, Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar 2nd Stage, Shantaveri Gopalagowda Nagar 2nd Stage, and R.T. Nagar 2nd Stage.
Priority sought
Local applicants had been demanding priority in the allotment of sites. More than 1.50 lakh applications are pending before MUDA, including several from outside Mysore. MUDA authorities had earlier said that applications from aspirants living outside Mysore would be sent to their respective urban development authorities for scrutiny. The verification is underway, sources in MUDA said.
Sources said the allotment of sites at Rabindranath Tagore Nagar and Lalithadri Nagar is expected to fetch big revenue for MUDA, which has enhanced the rate following rise in development cost. Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Nagar covers Lingambudhi and Yadahalli villages; Swarna Jayanthi Nagar includes Halalu and Chowdahalli; Lalithadripura II Stage covers Lalithadripura; Shanthaveri Gopala Gowda II Stage includes Hosahundi, Bandipalya and Uttanahalli; Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar II Stage covers Chikkahalli, Choranahalli and Yandahalli; and R.T. Nagar II Stage includes Kergalli.
Auction
MUDA is setting aside a large chunk of money for the completion of new layouts and other projects. To mobilise revenue for the new projects, MUDA had taken up the mega auction of its commercial property and corner sites. The auction has been fetching good revenue.
Taking a cue from the Bangalore Development Authority, MUDA took the e-auction route to market its prime property for mopping up resources for its development projects. Many prime property in layouts such as Dattagalli third stage, Vijayanagar, Devanoor, and Nachanahalli had come under the hammer in recent auctions.
At a recent board meeting here, there was a discussion on reviving the Heritage Park project, which has not seen the light of the day despite being proposed by the MUDA several years ago. There have been talks to develop stalls where visitors could interact with artisans and buy dolls, sculptures, pottery, and ornamental items; a performance court to showcase culture from different parts of the State; a coconut grove; an arecanut grove; and a food complex to serve specialities from various districts of the State at the heritage park. But, till date, there is absolutely no headway in the project in spite of fencing the allotted area located at the foot of Chamundi Hills near Lalitha Mahal Palace.
The foundation stone for the park was laid seven years ago. This park was proposed to prevent haphazard growth around Lalitha Mahal Palace and around the base of Chamundi Hills. When the project was announced, MUDA had said the heritage park would be “different” since horticulture, archaeology and heritage experts would be involved in drawing up the plan.
Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka Limited (I-DECK) had prepared the park's DPR in 2008 in accordance with the objectives with which MUDA proposed the plan. It was later submitted to the Centre for funds under JNNURM.
