What should be the floor margin ( total thickness) for granite floor assuming 19mm granite ?
My contractor says keeping 2 inch saying that it is required for proper leveling and slope direction on top of RCC slab.
Is this correct or it will be waste of excess mortar ?

Re: Flooring margin for Granite floor
Hi,
For granite flooring you need minimum 2" thick mortor not for slope but strong fixing and leveling granite . Tiles required less compared to granite. If you use less mortor there are many chances that granite will crack while tapping it to level. Granite will have lots of thickness variations with in one slab it self, which needs bottom mortor cushion to level the joints.
In many places you can see granite floor joints are not in level because the tile layer is not expert in doing the same.
