USE ONLY CRI PUMPS (REASONABLE COST)... BUY IN AUTHORISED DEALERS IN KR MARKET AND BARGAIN HARD. THE OTHER ONES KSB, GRUNDFOS ARE GOOD BUT COSTLYramki067 wrote:Hi guys,
We have a sump of 8 feet depth and 5x5 feet width and in need to put a motor(preferably not submersible). I've heard of Taro, Sharp, Vguard motors.
Tank is on 2nd Floor roof top with a small elevation upwards of around 5 feet high from 2nd floor roof. And on top of that tank is kept. My plumber said 1 HP motor is needed. Is this ok or half HP motor will pull water from ground floor?
Was going through taro motor website and when i see the below link, they have used so many technical terms for different motors. Which one technically, should we choose?

Thanks very much advance.

Motor for sump. Which is the best one?

Re: Motor for sump. Which is the best one?
looking for a sump water pump to pump water from under ground sump tank to overhead tank. looked at various threads here and i am NOT clear on what exactly is required -- lots of terminologies
what is the recommendation? self-priming monobloc submersible motor from sump tank to overhead tank?
what is the recommended material for these -- motor, pump, shaft, impeller etc?
if someone can explain these as well that would be great (looked up on what they are, but not sure what combination is valid)
monobloc
self priming
submersible
motor, pump, shaft, impeller material?

Just to make the question simpler:-)
what is the recommendation for a motor for sump? Is it a self-priming monobloc submersible motor (if there is such a thing with all these combinations)?

Re: Motor for sump. Which is the best one?
You have 2 options :
1) Monobloc pump which is to be mounted on the surface
2) Submersible pump (Open well) which is to mounted at the bottom of sump.
Monoblock is lower in cost (< Rs.3500) but needs some plumbing from foot valve to surface mounted pump. Bit noisy. occupies space in your sump/car park area.
Submersible is expensive (7-8000). Since it is mounted at bottom of sump, it is silent. Biggest advantage is that it gives 2 to 3 times more delivery for the same HP. That means overhead tank fills faster. It is also more eficient.

Re: Motor for sump. Which is the best one?
I enquired recently from the guy who installed the borewell pump and as per him Sharp was approx 8.7k and Texmo approx 10k - dont remember the exact price. Planning to check again in the next few days when I actually need it.

I got 2 Grundfos smart sub 1 HP S/P pumpset for 8250
http://www.konarksolar.com/grundfos/Sma ... 20Pump.pdf.
I had purchased Ventura for 7300 Rs a year back. Even though it was used for construction purposes, it has been holding up pretty well so far. I heard that prices have fallen for Venura pumps further so I was not sure if quality was good.
Both are submersible pumps.
