Re: Need Assistance for my New House
One more, Need suggestions :
I am building a house on G+2 , GF has one 2 bedroom house , FF has one 3 bedroom house and SF has two single bedroom houses. I am planning to have 3 OH Tanks of 2000lts along with having a sump of 13K Lts.The problem that I have is what to do with water consumption charges and electric charges for lifting water to OH Tank.
The options are,
1. One SUMP and 3 OHT along with a Single 1 HP Motor having a separate single meter, the tenants of all 4 houses will share the cost of the electric meter charges and share the water cost equally. Please also note that for all the 4 houses I will need to have 4 meters which means 5 meters in total.
2. One SUMP and 3 OHT along with Three 1 HP Motors. The plan is Ground floor house will use one meter and motor for its consumption , FF will use one meter and motor for its consumption , and finally SF will use two motors for each house and only one house meter will be connected to a meter so that make 4 meters in total and one OHT connected to each floor.
Having one motor extra will also add to my monthly maintenance but has a disadvantage of distributing electric charges among the tenants but not sure logically how things are workings in the IT capital …..
I am not sure with a plumbing perspective what’s meaningful to do out of the two options that I mentioned above but awaiting some meaningful thoughts from you smart folks….
Someone said right not having a home is just one headache but having many is headaches in multiples.

Re: Need Assistance for my New House
For my house construction i have asked the plumber to provide separate pipes line for each house and planning to connect water meter in the terrace. The total electricity expenses need to be shared by individual house. Though initially the expenses of laying pipe for individual house may cost more but it will give easy control. I was told the manual water meter will cost Rs. 1500/- (approximate) each and electronic water meter Rs. 5000/- (approximate)
Re: Need Assistance for my New House
Normally, one installs one water meter for the entire building, and a common electricity meter for water pump/borewell and common area lighting. The tariff of water and common meter water charges are just divided by number of houses and shared. If the building has a mix of 1,2 ,3 bhk, you could also split the tariff based on number of occupants in the houses for making it equitable
Indeed it is hassle to begin with and you will get used to it

Dear Balaji , your statement saying "planning to connect water meter in the terrace" is a bit interesting.bangalorebalaji wrote:For my house construction i have asked the plumber to provide separate pipes line for each house and planning to connect water meter in the terrace. By the above statement are you trying to say that you are putting a meter to monitor the amount of water that each house is using ? This is very important to me because in my area a lot of water is purchased by tankers and its IMP to know which house hold is using how much water on a monthly basis?

Re: Need Assistance for my New House
Balaji that was awesome. There is a lot to learn for many bangaloreans from this POST as most of us are apartment dwellers.
In my case i plan to ,
1. Provide one meter , motor and OHT for my 2 BHK in GF.
2. Provide one meter , motor and OHT for my 3 BHK in FF.
3. Provide one meter , motor and OHT for Two single BHK houses in SF.
The electric utilization for lifting water to OHT will be borne from respective floor owners along with the electric utilization for bulbs of common areas. There may be some confusion in the SF as there are two houses but its better than the other option (as suggested by sk1976)where in all residents share from One meter.
Hope i am right !!!

Re: Need Assistance for my New House
Typically it works the way as suggested by sk1976. if you have decided to have separate electric meter + motor + OHT tank and you have only one house in GF and FF so the common electricity points can be connected to there respective main line it self (so that you save electric wire) and individual house control the light point based on there need and pay as per there usage. The SF you may connect closest lighting point connected for each house which controlled by individual house owner.
Another recommendation: Please work out the cost for 3 motor + 3 separate electric meter (deposit) + 3 OHT (consider cleaning +maintenance) and compare the price with 1 OHT (bigger) + 4 water meter (not EB meter). The second option will cost you lesser and just have 1 electricity meter, share the electricity charges based water meter usage. you may also connect all common lighting to this electric meter.

Re: Need Assistance for my New House
How big a OHT can anyone have ? doesnt it affect the load on the RCC slab ? I thought of having 3 OHT of 2K Lts each but cant have one of 6K lts correct ?bangalorebalaji wrote:Another recommendation: 1 OHT (bigger) + 4 water meter (not EB meter). Re: Need Assistance for my New House
I have started wood work and one question i have to the forum members is ,
1) Cost involved for hexagonal rods for windows : I have (i)12 windows of 5'*4.5' (ii) 3 windows of 3'*4.5' and (iii) 4 windows of 5'*3' who is a altogether a total of around 400sqft window area.
the carpenter is charging me 24,000 rs for just this hexagonal iron rods for windows.
Does anyone have an idea on this .....am i been looted ?
