Flooring option for Internal & External Staircase

Post by sahu.mgse »

Dear All;
I have Folded type External and internal staircases in my under construction house. I am planning MS railing for external and SS railing for internal staircase.

I would like to know flooring suggestion for both staircases.
As per agreement Granite flooring with basic rate (rs 70/sft) . My contractor is telling sadarhalli granite with rough finish only will come for this.

a) Is rough finish will look good ? or can i go for flamed one. what is standard finish being used for staircase .
b) Whether we have to use granite for Tread and riser both.
c) What is the granite thickness to be used for staircase.
d) Will black granite skirting with sadarhalli granite come out good? any suggestions on nosing (half/full).

1. U may proceed as per budget balances.

2.. u can get polished one, wt u r contractor is telling is not correct.

3... u better go for both granite. for tread-sadarhalli granite & for rise-black granite or viceverse.

4.... 18mm to 20mm

5..... excellent with full nosing.

Thanks Mr. Kiran for point by point reply.
i) If i go for polished one (how is it different from flamed on?) how to provide anti-skid to safeguard from slip.
ii) What's about skirting ......black granite or sadharhalli?
iii) Can I get any better granite for the price quoted (rs 70/sft) for staricase?

Rs 55/sft is the cost of slab that to for uncut & nosing should be separately by the shop people or by u r layer, the cost of nosing is Rs 50 to 60 /Rft for full nosing & half nosing cost is Rs 30 to 40/Rft.

Hi,
Apart from Sadarhalli, you can also check for other Blasted granite options. Your Contractor is possibly inclined to Sadarahalli because of the cost. You can also look at Kota anti-skid and leather finish. Even Jaisalmer Yellow rough will fit into your budget.
