After stretching my budget in civil work, marble, granite I have no money left for even basic interiors.
So I wanted to know what is the rate of particle board wardrobe cost per sft ?

I have got a quote of Rs 800/sft. He can come down to Rs 775/sft.
Is he reasonable or on higher side ?

Thanks and regards
Anand

Dont go for particle board for wardrobes, you should be able to get it done with plywood/blockboard for the same price if you go for local plywood instead of the branded ones like green or century and laminate finish. Try to purchase the material and do a labour contract with a good carpentor.

In Green or century there are 2 or 3 models for commercial plywood, the economy one should be around 70 Rs and the premium is around 90Rs.. Local non branded commercial ply should be available starting from 50Rs per sqft.. For the labour contract, it usually per sqft labour and this can range from 150 Rs/sqft to 300 Rs based on the carpentor..

Branded vs Non Branded PLY

Can you please tell me the real difference
whenever we ask for Branded Century GreenPly etc
the store owners and mfrs of non branded say
we are the best we supply to them and they simply stamp their names
is it true? does is it really make sense to use branded when we can
source comml at 50 rs per sft and use a nice veneer or laminate and finish
it?? also BWR is it a must can we again apply the laminate prinicpal?

thanks

The challenge is to identify good quality non-branded plywood as there are 100s of local plywood available in the market.
For those on a tight budget, one option is to look at not so famous branded plywood like AK Ply, Prestige, Alpine, Samrat etc..
Some of these even come with warranty and hence there is some assurance on the quality of the product..
The price should be 10 to 20 Rs lesser than the branded plywood price.

I did not understand the question about BWR and laminate..

Hi all,

If anybody is going in for block wood articles be extreamly careful. The block wood consists of ordinary thick wooden reepers sandwiched between two plywood sheets. The wooden reepers can have borer inside and can eat away these reapers. I lost a door and two cots because of these borers.

Whether reputed brands are free of borers, you have to investigate.
