I am looking for a 2ft x 3 ft 12mm toughened glass sheet
with a 14" dia hole to mount a glass bowl. If you know any
glass vendor for this please let me know. I enquired with a
nearby vendor his response was not encouraging.
Also, can you suggest any alternative material to the toughened
glass ?

thanks
sholla

Try http://www.uniqueglasswork.com/?page_id=21

They appears to be doing lot of custom glass work at reasonable price...
Polycarbonate sheet like LEXAN can be used...But looks like you wanted to use part of countertop as nook/breakfast..
One thing for sure, cost goes up with any options other than granite 6 sq. ft granite will be 1000 unifinished, 2000 finished+ installation..

Let us know what path you took...

Hi,Sholla
My suggestion for any glass don't go to vendors far from your place. Its risky in transfering the glass.Dont expect any glass vendor to wrap safely and handover it you. They just give the glass like any other item .

Toughned glass i not an expensive affair .I didnt understand your requirement of 14" dia hole to mount glass bowl ,is it a wash basin you are trying to make it like ready made stuff ?
Making 14" dia in glass i not easy unless they have circle glass cut tool .Are you placing the glass on top of wood ? or steel supports?

Thanks gshelter, Praveen,

I was waiting for the cost estimate before replying. One vendor in JP nagar
is saying the 12mm glass costs 2000 rs and the hole cutting 1200 rs. Dark
tinted glass is 600 rs additional. He has taken the size as 2.5 ft x 3.5 ft.
Does this look reasonable ?

Praveen, because of th odd size of the room I could not find anything
readymake, though that would have been my preferred option.
I am planning to mount a resin glass bowl (light weight) in that hole
and support the glass frame using D and L steel brackets.
