Woodwork for a newly constructed flat

Also please advise on materials to be used for cubboards in kitchen,bedrooms,etc., along with the approx. cost details.

We are planning to do our flat furniture work by using a carpenter based on labor contract. The cost agreed is RS 165 with inside laminate fix. But not yet signed the contract.
We have no experience in building our own wardrope, we have chosen this mainly against saving us from extra loan while going with showrooms.

Since we are new to this, I am thinking of using Greenply water proof (it cost approximately 95 per sq ft) because that is the only name I hear by advertisement apart from century ply. The only reason we thought about greenply is by its name and we thought it will be good since it is branded. By choosing water proof for all rooms including kitchen, we hope that the quality will be good since we are amateur in product selection.

As per our calculation greenply water proof is pushing our budget to higher than we except.

Is it any other brands that is cheaper but still good in quality?

I see sometime back Mr Praveen is recommended like ArchitectPly, ArchidPly etc. Are there any good plywood which is good by quality and cheap by price? We would be laminating inside (half white), Outside we will be using Veneer. For doors we thought about using boards (We decided since we read posts on internet that the door shall not bend if it is made of board). The boxes shall be made in plywood. Few of my friends suggested me that Balaji Plywoods at Infantry road for purchasing plywoods.

Carpender is recommending us NOT to use Veneer for kitchen due to water and other humility reasons, the veneers could not be managed or get fade. Is he right?

Your recommendation would save me real money.

You can try frontier ply -- made of gurjan material i think it costs 78/sqft. This is waterproof and is highly recommended... for commercial ply you can use pine... i think it costs rs 48/sqft.

Unless you won't get bored with your furniture in a dacade or two, I suggest go with the middle range plywood. You will understand what is middle range if you visit a handful of plywood sites. Don't pay more than 70 for playwood which you can use in all the places except kitchen.

Greenply has various products of varying quality. Go for IS710 graded plywood to really get water proof. IS303 is water resistant. The difference was Rs 10 a year ago.

There are cheaper brands available in the market such as trojan, etc. you need to make sure they are borer free
If you really want to save on money, try using framed structure as much as possible. this will reduce the amount of plywood, laminates and fevicol you need.
