Hi All,

I am planning to have a custom courtyard (14*12 ft) in my house and looking for help from scratch.
My initial query is whether I can have custom courtyard( Sometime with sea pebbles and most of the time with plantation) considering the maintenance too.

Appreciate any links , content to gain knowledge and get it executed.

Initial Queries:
1. How to setup the soil bed ( Do I need to retain the natural soil (or) Do I need to go with manual fill)
2. Should I have plantation area for only up to minimum depth after filling the courtyard space with concrete (for example, I close the courtyard area with concrete and on top of it fill the soil for plantation)
3. Is there any detailed steps for courtyard setup.
4. How much would be the maintenance cost if I am appointing some one
5. What type of plantation can I select ?

Thanks in advance.

Don't see reason why you should put concrete except the pathway.

Ask some landscaping/gardening company for quotes there are a few in Bangalore.

Many interior designers/architects claim to do landscaping but a specialist will be better.

Thanks . I am planning to engage a landscape specialist , but I am sure that few members in this forum might have already have experience in courtyard setup as well as landscaping.

I am afraid if rodents or any other creature may have an entry point from the courtyard if I go with natural soil bed.
