I have a steel tube frame structure where I need to place 40mm board/ply and on top of it Granite will be placed.
Instead of going for waterproof ply I am thinking of particle Cement board (bison board) and paste granite on top.
Is the Bison particle.cement board water proof and good.for such usage or.will it disintegrate like normal particle board if water seeps in from sides ?

Hi Visualizer
I think, you are looking this option for Modular Kitchen purpose. Usually in Kitchen Moisture is more. Hence use of Particle board is not advisable, that too especially if its manual carpentry work, as joint gaps between the Plywood & the Laminate is not 100% closed or leakproof, where water or the moisture easily enters the Board.
Recently I come across, an alternate option, where they use the Stone partitions, Platforms or Precast Cement Slabs and use the Plywood Doors in the front side as usual. They call it Andhra Cement Wardrobe. You can search online, couple of vendors available in Bangalore. I've not compared the cost factor.

no i am looking for steel starcase mid-landing and also cement wood particle board is different from particle board.
the structure is 7 feet x 4feet fabricated on 2'x 4' section steel tube frame anchored to slab and beams with metal plate and anchorbolts.
need to place a sheet on top of this tubular frame and paste granite (18mm thick slab).
One option is using chequred steel plate
the plate thickness is usally 4.5mm so for 40mm below granite slab to match floor level 35.5 mm of cement sand mortar need to be laid on too of the chequired steel plare. I have used this method at two other places (to close provisions of lift pit in basement floor as I am not putting lift as of now)
however it is heavy and expensive.
other is to use 32mm waterproof plyboard and stick granite on it this is suggested by granite layer. Total thickness required below granite slab to match floor top level is 40mm. so afterthe 32mm board 8 mm of adhesive will be pasted.
Third option I am thinking is using 32mm cement wood fiber board and lay granite on top of it.
so question here is is cement wood b9ard better than water proof plyboard.
