Newly constructed house - Sewage chamber blockage

Hello,
The construction of G+3 rental property was completed end of Feb and tenants occupied starting March 2020. Since then the sewage chamber is blocked twice - once in April and again today. Last time got the BBMP folks to clear it using their high pressure water gun/hose. Tenants are instructed not flush reject wastes such as diapers, sanitary pads etc.

Request experts in this forum to share the potential causes and solution for the blockage.

Hi,
Most cases of soil pipes blockage is only because of flusing rejected wastes like diapers, sanitary pds and shapoo sachets etc. You can observe these waste coming out of pipes and getting blocked in the chambers.
You need to show these items to the people staying in the flats to make them aware of wrong doings.
Not having enough chambers at the critical turnings is always a issue for repeated blockage.

Dear Praveen,
Thanks for your response. Tenants claim they do not flush waste rejects and since I do not stay at the premise its getting hard to track, but will figure out a way. We have placed chambers to cover all the turnings..not many though.

1. The street is in low lying area and both blockages occured after it rained. Sometimes the street are flooded when it rains. Do you see any correlation?
2. Could there a chance of blockage due to reverse flow from the sewage main line especially near the connections.

If there is reverse flow from under ground drain in to house chambers, its due to invertlevels. You need to install a non return drainage flap door that doesnt allow rever reverse flow. Its like gravity flap door that can open only in one direction. One problem with these flap doors is that they need to be inspected regularly. Incase of soil water pressure from house chambers is not sufficient then the soil gets accumalated at the flap door as it cannot push open it to the public under ground drain.
