I have a problem plastering a narrow wall.

Neighbour has built wall till site boundary. I have built with 6 " gap from neighbor wall. While building the wall the wall mason told me he will do plastering in that 6" gap.

After building the wall the wall mason left work in site.
Now another mason for plastering is expressing inability to do plastering in the 6 " gap as he cannot stand there to do it.

What option do I have now to finish plastering ? Is there any technique ?

Looks like there is no known technique to do plastering in this gap. I need to keep it exposed to the weather gods.

Hi, kamraj
In the first level itself you should have not left 6" gap when the neighbor has touched to boundary wall. If you have given gap to fix a window or ventilator then there is no other option to live with it.
Easy way to fix it is to extend the terrace slab touching the neighbor wall and pack it water tight so that rain water wouldn't damage your wall.

Hi..Kumaraja

If you could post the picture and give more details about the gap we could see what better way we can seal that gap.

I'm not sure, what was the purpose of leaving 6" gap between 2 walls ?
When you have violated the set back rules, you should have used that precious 6" area also,
to increase your livable area to a great extent.!!!!!!!!

weather damage, pests etc will become a maintenance issue. See if you can pack it fully. If you have windows check if you can install a duct pipe with a duct fan for forced ventilation

You are right Praveen. Need to prevent rain from falling. Or wait more years till neighbours too demolish rebuild theirs.

This is a big lesson for me. attach to the neighbour wall or leave atleast 2 feet gap, the 6" gap does not provide any benefit , rather will cause safe home for rodents and pests apart from weather exposure.

But I am sure there will be a day when this 6" gap can be plastered using some modern machinery.
