Dear All,
Need advise on flooring for my house in construction at Bangalore. Marble is too costly and hence ruled out. Between Vitrified and Granite, which is more used in Bangalore for independent houses.
Granite is harder stone with longer life but is Vitrified, with all new technologies, inferior?
The major disadvantage in Granite is the black/grey/red colours mostly used in public places. I check the lighter Madurai granites but was advised against taking it due to rusting issue.
Thanks,
Venkat

There are hundreds of designs in vitrified tiles. You get granite finish , granite colours , texture in these. Look for brands like Kajaria, Somany, Nitco. They have awesome designs just like granite.

Granite is durable and is mostly a life time flooring for most of the buildings. Vitrified you get lot of options and laying is easy only challenge is it cracks if you put any heavy object on it.
Good quality and branded vitrified with lot of color options are mostly costlier than granite and will be in the range of 180-200 plus .
Granite comes in various color, visit few showrooms on the bidadi side or the bannerghatta road site. You may get few good options. You may have to choose 2-3 options one for the internal house and one for the common areas like steps and balcony.

If you can afford granite go for it, But you need to get good quality.
Advantage with granite is that its durable for a long time and also you can lay huge pieces unlike tiles. Finishing would look great.
You need to make sure granite doesn't have any cracks before before buying, someone who has worked on laying granite for years will be able to help you out with the selection.

Thanks all. Are branded vitrified tiles like kajaria inferior to granite in terms of durability. I heard that with advancement in technology even branded vitrified is hard and durable

@kumarorion. I have spent 2 full days at jigani. Visited around 8 shops. I saw several light coloured materials from Madurai. my engineer says that madurai material will rust due to high metal content. Is this true. I did not like dark colour as I am getting only black grey red varieties, which is mostly used in public places

Venki, Frankly am hearing about this granite rusting now, not sure on that . May be experts can advice. If your inclination is towards good colors, i think you should look at Double charged vitrified tiles. Do a check on the cost diff. b/w them and good granite. If i were you i would still hunt for the right color granite for few more days . What is your budget , have you checked out italian marble, product and laying cost are high but they look elegant.
