3m hard water scale inhibition system

Hi,

We are considering the 3m scale inhibition systems (http://solutions.3mindia.co.in/wps/port ... s/Catalog/) to tackle the scaling due to hard water in our borewell water.

We use the cauvery water supplied for drinking and bathing, the borewell water is used for commodes, washing and gardening.

My understanding is that we probably don't need a full fledged water softener, as the only issue we are facing is scaling.

Will the 3m scale inhibition filter be sufficient or is a water softener required?

What are the regular maintenance costs with the 3m system? Any review or advice related to it will be very useful.
