Having issue on windows with my contractor.

I am going with UPVC windows for front elevation based on the Architect design, I got a quote of 780/Sqft for Vekka & 1200/Sqft for Fenesta, But my contractor is saying its over the budget.

He has quoted for 1400 Rs/Cubic feet as a rate for wood/UPVC, but says to me would would cost him 450/Sqft (Grill,wood & Carpentry charges).

Other Details.

16 Window Cft 1st Standard Sal of size 4X3 Will Be Used at all Frames stages of building 1400 Rs/CFt
17 Window Cft Windows with mesh track by upvc including all necessary fittings 1400 Rs/CFT

Can some body help me in decoding this conversion from rate of 1400 rs/Cubic feet to Sqft & confirm if contract rate is Sqft correct.

You question is not very clear , but to my understanding you are trying to compare the wood window vs UPVC costing to counter contractor extra charges for UPVC

Wooden window including grill
Wood + labor + glass = as 700/- per sft + simple hexagon rods 130/- per sft + painting 50/- per sft + hardware(hinges, handles, tower bolt, screws, stays) 1500/-
When you convert the whole thing to per sft it will be around 1000/- per sft for sal wood @ 1600 per cft windows .All these prices are not considering contractor margin of 15% that is applicable as per IS civil codes .
Please note that variable costs like hardware ,grills will change based on the design and quality you select .

Upvc - 3 track sliding approx 900/- per sft in regular brands like LG, Rehau
In general we consider wooden window(sal @ 2500cft) cost is equal to upvc window cost including fixing and installation
You can ask the contractor to give cost analysis of his wooden window , break up of wood +glass+beadins+hardware+carpenter+grill+painting+cleaning .
