The masons have done a blunder of not putting stone steps to get into the sump which is 7 feet deep. The plastering and sump roof mould is already done. Please advice what can be done now. Any breaking of sump walls now will cause seepage.

How often anybody gets inside the sump. Usually it's just for cleaning purpose and the labourers gets inside even with a help of a stool or ladder. Instead of creating seapage by adding any clamps I feel it's better to leave it as is.

Sampath, The sump internal plastering and water proofing is already done, I do not want to disturb it now.
Moreover the walls of sump are made up of concrete and steel, not used bricks.

Rajashekarappa,
Yes needed to get into sump for cleaning purpose as well as for regular inspection for cracks etc.it will easier if there are a couple of steps for 7 feet deep.

Most of the purpose is clearing, i agree with Girish, Best thing will be to use a light weight Aluminum ladder which is light weight you can put it down and climb down for cleaning and and then again pick it up. If you try doing anything to the wall it will lead to seepage and leeaking. In fact in my house purposefully i have avoided any steps int he wall, we use ladder to get into the sump. Hope this helps.

I agree bsc, we need not always keep the ladder there, just when we want to use, meanwhile a step is always convenient way, using a ladder when there is water in sump may be in convenient.

It is good that no step is built :). My sump is 9 feet deep and not installed steps or anything on the advise of my builder. I would use aluminium ladder if required.
