Hello Members,

I know already there are no of threats in the forum were discussed about that. But somehow i am not able to finalize it and confused to choose the one.

Kindly suggest which one to choose for painting. My painter suggesting to use JOTUN (http://www.jotun.com/) or else i can go with dulux/nerolac/nippon/berger.

No to Asian due to duplicates and price.

Kindly suggest.

Thanks,
Karthik.S

Hi Karthik,

I think Jotun might be more expensive than Asian paints and availability is not widespread. Also, there are a lot of reliable Asian paints dealers in the country and duplicates shouldn't be a problem. If you are avoiding Asian paints only due to duplicates issue, you can check with Asian paints customer care and they can help you with the dealers.

Thanks a lot Karthik J. Even my first choice would be an Asian paint. However my painter insisting me to buy Jotun paint. Hope he would get more commission from the dealer if we buy Jotun. Few of the members in the forum were suggesting Dulux/Nippon/Nerolac over Asian. Do you have any idea about that.

mean time i will check with Asian customer care.

once again thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks,
Karthik

There is Kansai Nerolac, Berger Paints, Nippon, Dulux. From my personal experience, Berger has limited selection in South India (many paint options they list are not available in Bangalore).
Kansai Nerolac - very few dealers in Bangalore, i got it from Suresh Hardware on KR Road. Impressions Eco-clean for interiors is very good. Excel Total for exterior - no VOC but the finish was not very good but average.
Nippon has Odourless Air-care green paint but i was not aware of it when i had made the selection last year.
Dulux - Dulux Guardian is their green paint sub-brand - am not aware of its availability in Bangalore and performance
Asian paints - widest distribution across India, bigger choice of colours, more fraud materials floating around as well and lesser price than their competitors, have 80% of overall market share in India.
More colour means a tint is added to base paint, which means more fumes exhaling out of your home all the time.
The key is to have a very low VOC (less than 50 g/litre) or Zero VOC paint (less than 5 g/litre) and also should not contain lead, mercury, Cadmium, Chromium VI and their oxides, halogenated solvents, benzene, poly-aromatic hydrocarbons and other aromatic hydrocarbons
