Dear All,

I have done my elevation design after 2nd floor construction. Due to the design my architect suggesting to remove the sunshade/chejjas in the ground floor to get the view and front look. But my contractor is telling, it would affect the structure since it was done from the lintel level.

Experts kindly suggest how to remove the sunshade/chejja's without affecting the structure. I have attached the photo for your reference. Or will it be fine to keep it

Could you please help on this.

Note: I have marked the sunshade with Red lines

Thanks,
Karthik

Hi Karthik,

Removing sunshade is a good thought for your house elevation as per the picture provided. However you will have to keep one thing in mind the long beam that is running in the car parking at the lintle level and also see a wall constructed above it. Temporarily give a wood support for the beam and slowly brake the sunshade so that vibration doesn't affect the beam.

Thanks,
Girish

For cutting the RCC, Power tools are available to cut the unwanted portion/to make any modification at a later date which is more safer than conventional hammering method.

As I remember, Same was used in the 25 story 'Public Utility Building' on MG Road to install the Fire exist stair case few years back from top floor to Ground Level as per fire & safety Department advise.

Same kind of service must be available for your need also. Search for right set of people/resources.
