Need Info on Temple Stone Pillars/Materials - Contractors

Post by Chida »

Dear Folks,

I am planning to renovate an old small Basavanna Temple of size 600 Sft at my village in Magadi Taluk (60 Kms from Bengaluru) and need the following information:

1. Stone Pillars which would have God/Goddess/Flowers/Animals etc., engraved/etched on it.
Where to procure these pillars? Anything in or around Bengaluru? I can go to other states if none nearby.

2. Gopuram -Are there any ready made Gopurams available? What is the best suggestion? Should we built with Stone/Cement/Marble?
Any suggestions?

3. Temple Contractors - Reliable and economic contractors who can do it in a village neat Magadi Taluk (60 kms from Bengaluru).
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.

Wishing you all a happy and prosperous New Year.

Hi ,

There is a place near kolar called sivarapatna .That place is very much famous for the stone carving related to temples.Infact the entire village population is very much into this business .It is hardly an hour drive from Bengaluru.

Google/wikipedia for more information.

Hi ,
You can also check in mahabalipuram if time permits ,there are many famous sculpturer in that area all along the highway itself .You can also get stuff ready made available with simple patterns for pillars. Transport and other logistics should be taken care .
