Hi,

How are pergolas charged? My contractor says it will be charged on square feet basis. And the square feet is calculation according to him is as follows: In a 12 feet by 6 feet area, there are three horizontal pergola rods of half foot each running for 12 feet. Will it still be charged as 72 square feet (12*6) or should it be charged as ((12* 0.5)*3) = 18 square feet? Usually what methodolgy do the contractors / builders adopt for calculating pergola rate?

Thanks in advance

i got my pergola done with double layered tiles for 240/sq.ft. I insisted on 14 guage rods. Almost all contractors use 16 guage rods.

Thanks a lot guys for your valuable feedback.
@riturajmnit. Sir, was your pergola made with concrete and steel? Was it constructed when the rool centring was done?

You start doing it after all the roof work is complete. The rods are all MS and concrete base is required where the vertical rods touch the ground. Ensure the rods are painted. The colours you usually get are black and golden brown, which will match the tile roof.
