Dear Members;

We got it done wooden window shutter (alone) by carpenter for our house. The rate was fixed in Rs/sft. I want to know while calculating the labor cost, whether shutter area to be considered or full window area (including frame) to be consider for labor charge.

The carpenter has considered Window area for SFT calculation for shutters with glass, however for mosquito shutter he has considered only shutter area.

Is it correct method? I want to settle his bill.Please comment ?

yes that is the norm and honest way of calculating, always the full window opening area is taken for shutter sft calculation, glass\mesh area is also included.
the most labor intensive \ risky \ difficult part in window is final setting and fixing of shutters and glass doors have to be hung\set from outside.
The inside mesh shutters are hung from inside which is comparatively less risky and hence less labor.

I paid Rs.130/sft for the whole window frame size for french shutters. I was also confused initially whether it is the shutter size or frame size.
