Need Feedback on sunvik blocks

Hi,

Today I got quote from Sunvik flyash solid blocks. This is the same company which sells steel. As they have captive power plant, they recycle flyash by manufacturing blocks.

Though their rates are around same as APCO E grade, they are inclusive of transport (from Sira) and can be used for load bearing walls as well. APCO charges around Rs 3850 per load which can work out to Rs 9-10/block if you order 400 blocks and thus total cost works out quite expensive.

Any feedback on quality and any other issues with flyash blocks? I have got a sample today which I am going to test. Overall the block looks strong with good edges, and surface. The surface is smooth, so plastering may be a problem.

@sanchitnis,

These are probably the ones being used by high end-high rise apartments like Manthri, Sobha... From what I understand, these wont be load bearing due to flyash content but need to look at strength test reports. I would think that this should reduce the loading on beams and lead to saving in beam reinforcement steel.

Plastering on very smooth surface is going be an issue but seems like others are working using these.

We have used APCO C-grade blocks because there are no columns in our house and pretty happy with the quality of blocks.
