Roof top - Need to cover it: steel fabrication costs?

HI,
Not a direct civil construction query, but related.
To save us from the summer & to have some extra usable area, I am planning to get a part of the roof covered with a steel structure - with G.I / Alu sheets (those thin colored metal sheets) on top supported by respective pillars/trusses on the sides.
The area to be covered is approximately 20 x 30. I just inquired a neighborhood fabricator (known) & he just said it wd cost me close to 1L without even asking what specification etc. Sadly, they just assume that we have infinite money to spend on them for any work
I was hoping that it will be a simple structure with 3-4 trusses & 6-8 poles to support them along with the roof support bars & sheets. Options of UV poly carb sheets (plastic like) or metal was under consideration based on cost & durability.
Question: What is the likely cost for this? Any specific suggestions / guidelines for this? Has anyone set up something similar on their roof during construction?
