Road widening

Dear Friends, I started construction 2 months back and completed cellar now ground floor construction is going on.

I had left 3 1/2 feet setback towards road side, now corporation guy is telling they are going to widen the road so they may acquire 5 feet on both side of the road.

Now I am confused what to do, either to stop the construction and wait for the further news. Any idea what will be the consequences if I continue the construction, kindly share the experience if anyone faced similar situation.

Thanks,
Balu.

I think its better to put construction on hold for few days and in between, you file an RTI to get the information regarding widening the road, what for it is being done etc details.
Also, whether all the residents/plot owners agreed for this and compensation is given for the land acquisition by the authority.

Hi. Normally if the road is planned to be widened, the approval for the plan is never given. Only if the earmarked area is left out is the plan approved.

Was your plan approved recently? I guess you need to check!!

regards.

My plan was approved this year July, according to the BBMP plan setback is 1.1 Meter ( 3 feet , 6 inches), I thought is was 3 1/5 feet but actually it is more when we measured today which is 4 1/2 feet now.

I found out that they are widening 5 feet both the sides of road. I am planning to complete the first floor and stop the construction.

My plan was to construct cellar + 3 floors, now I am thinking to stop the construction after completing the first floor.

Most of the constructed houses in the road have less than 3 feet setback or nothing. In the entire road I was the last guy to construct.
