My contractor is suggesting to use robo sand instead of natural sand.
Is it a good option? Is there a good company around Bangalore that provides good quality robo sand?

Did anyone used it and saw any issues after couple of years of construction.

It's a good option for foundation work but not plastering work. It's lab tested and has extremly good strength. I am planning to get this used in my construction now.

As per the recommendations up to 40% is allowed, but 20% is a good bet to mix the jelly dirt with sand. You can mix the sand and jelly dirt in the site itself to have a tight control on the mixing quantities.

I have been reading different sources about this. I think there is a clear difference between manufactured sand and jelly dirt.
@msananthu I think you are talking about jelly dirt. can you please confirm

My contractor is talking about using Ultratech manufactured sand and I found a document from ultratech about their product and I am impressed with the details they have mentioned in the document. Can anyone please give me details on using this manufactured sand in your construction?

There is a very clear distinction between manufactured sand and Jelly dirt. What I understand from my talks with various sources is when you mix this Jelly dirt with sand it is called Robo sand. This jelly dirt is again not the smooth one but is more coarse. This helps to reduce the sand consumption and also be friendly on pockets, while not compromising on strength.

I did get a few samples called manufactured sand, which is manufactured by crushing stones mined from river bed, but the pricing was expensive.

@Ashok - Manufactured sand (known by different brand names) is suitable for concrete work. I used it for footings and columns. Please make sure you get coarse grained one from one of standard companies that manufacture it. Robo Silicon is one such company that sells it with the brand name of Robo Sand.
