Wooden steps and flooring

Folks,

I have 3 sets of stairs to be done with metal frame + wooden steps. Basic question I have is - what should be the thickness of the wooden step? 1.5" or 1.75" or 2"

If I get wood for hardwood flooring, are carpenters capable of making pieces like the one attached here?

Thanks,
GD

I have similar steps (steel frame+teak wood steps) . The local carpenter was able to join the steps and install it - it can be done easily; not very high-tech. I was told a joined piece would be cheaper than single piece of teak step

The steps are 1" thick.
