Hi guys,

Wanted to know, how to calculate the sump litres of water it stores. I want to store 15000(Fifteen thousand ) litres of water as we get water once a week from BWSSB. Digging of sump will start from tomorrow. What is the depth and width the sump has to be dug in-order to accommodate 15000 litres of water.
The contractor said we have to dig 1 feet extra to accommodate concrete which will be of 1 feet at the bottom.

I think 1cft of tank (1x1x1 ft) holds 27.8 litres of water. So you would need about 540cft which has to be divided into length, width and depth. Generally your length and width are main constraints. Depth can be adjusted accordingly.
