Hi,
As a late decision, we decided to raise the floor of one of the areas of the first floor level(about 10.5'x18'). I can do this raising using Cinder blocks. While designing the reinforcement details of the roof the Cinder blocks are not considered. Will this add significant weight to the roof and call for extra reinforcement?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Sridhar
You can raise the floor with cinder with out any issue. But do you have any support in the middle of the 18' side of the slab? also can you specify reason behind raising the such huge single slab.

Hi Praveen,
Thanks a lot for your response. The reason for raising of floor level of the family room by 4 inches is only for aesthetic reasons. I plan to have wooden flooring in that area and the 4 inch height will provide a good distinction and look.

I also have the exact same plan for living room. Have you found a vendor for the same? What is the cost per sft you are looking at?msridhar78 wrote: The reason for raising of floor level of the family room by 4 inches is only for aesthetic reasons. My house construction is in progress. The engineer has not given an estimate for this extra work.
