Borewell drilling Experience

Hi All,

First of all thanks for this forum, have gained a lot of knowledge from this.

Now it is payback time with whatever knowledge, experience i have gained till now.

Got bore well drilled at my site measuring 30*40 two weeks back.

Here goes the experience.
1) Got application from BBMP for bore well drilling - Cost 500rs. Paid 1500 bribe to get no objection from officer . Which I later found out was not needed.
2) Got the point identified by Geologist via Copper Wire and Meter reading methods.
Two points were identified.
One with 50 % assurance nearby North South corner
Another one with 80% assurance nearby North East corner with yield identified at 340,560,760.
Cost -1000rs
3) Enquiried with couple of borewell drillers for quotes.
4) Went ahead with Siddaganga Borewells drillers after quotes seemed reasonable and my dad knew the person through one of his friends.
5) Service was very professional and on-time
6) Had given time at 9.30 a.m , Vehicle arrived sharply at 9.40 a.m
7) After initial setup and puja, drill began at 10.15 a.m
8) Began drill via 10" pit till rock was found.
9) Rock found at around 45 feet, Installed casing pipe and began further drilling with 6.5" pit.
10) Found first yield at 380ft with yield seemed like 1", drill operator told it 1.5 ".
11) Went ahead with drilling for second source and found second yield at around 500 something with yield increasing substantially. Operator claimed it 2". Seemed like 2" and went ahead with drilling till 765 feet and ended there as my dad suggested if we go further, the water yield from 3 source might get salty and we are this much yield in summer so it should be good enough.
12) Gave 500 tips to the operator and they winded up with further pestering for tips.

Following was the final price
250"=68 rs
100=78 rs
100=88 rs
50=98 rs
100=113 rs
100=133 rs
65= 153 rs
MS casing= 46*300rs
Collar= 3* 200rs
Cap=200 rs
Labour= 600rs
Transport =600rs

Total came up to =89445.

Gave him Rs. 87,500

So with all the costs (point finding, bribe,tips) total cost came up to 90K.

Now enquiring for bore well pump installation. Thinking of getting it installed just before i start off with construction.

Hope this information was useful.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing the information, could you tell me more about -
Paid 1500 bribe to get no objection from officer . Which I later found out was not needed.

Do you mean that you could have got no-objection certificate without paying bribe?

@ravivasudeva:

Even after paying bribe, I didn't get no-objection certificate yet. I was told it will be processed as per serial no of application but you can go ahead with drilling I will take care of it. As this service comes under SAKALA, if you wait a bit, bribe can be avoided.

Hi @SOMESH86,

Thanks for sharing your experience, really helpful. Even I am planning to get the borewell done, can you pass on the Geologist information who identified the points for you?

By the way I am not planning to get the permission, since I heard there is only one officer for whole of Bangalore to give the approval and it might take 2-3 months time.

Regarding NOC,they say it might be required for electric connection later on. Which u can get it done after submitting affidavit itseems. Not sure cent percent though.

Hi

I need some help regarding borewell approval. I want to drill a borewell before starting contruction. My construction may start in about 2-3 months (need to confirm still about constructing during rainy season.)
My question is I want to get the borewell done before summer end so is it ok to submit the application and start drilling or do I have to wait until approval? I heard that sometimes it takes 2-3 months and also with elections I am thinking it may take more time.
Can someone who has experience with this guide me on this.

Thanks
Krishna

Hi Krishna,

If your site is at out-skirts, you can go ahead with bore well drilling once you have submitted application as civic authorities viz police, bbmp are not much active there and you won't be troubled for tips from them while drilling. Thats what i did, once I have submitted application, bribed the official and got the borewell drilled. Expecting the approval certificate in next week .

Somesh

I got this thing done few months back. Few points to note:

- As someone has mentioned on this forum, the certificate from BWSSB would be useful while applying for a temporary electric connection, but might not be absolutely necessary (I used it for obtaining temporary electric connection)
- Inspection by senior officer - Department of geology and mines (who sits in Vishweshwaraiah Building) could take time, once you submit application to BWSSB (Kaveri Bhavan); Looks like there are only 2 geologists for entire Bangalore city :roll:
- The only plus point of paying what the Officer asks for is that one need not wait for additional 1 or 2 months, to get the borewell drilled with proper permission :ugeek:
- On the process part, once the officer inspects the site and takes a note of details, he goes back to his office and sends the approval details to BWSSB (how quickly he sends those details, depends on whether you have paid requested amount to him or not) ;)
- Then one should go to BWSSB office and collect the certificate / permission for drilling borewell on your site; If you are lucky, you would get that on your first visit, else you have to visit them again
- Another point is that BWSSB collects Rs. 500 as application fee if the site is vacant; Looks like vacant site is considered equivalent to commercial site (though it is just Rs. 50 for domestic) :)
