Hello All,

Has any one used main door shutters from arya bhangy or mahalsa?

If we get it done by carpenter, how much does a teak door shutter cost? Looks like total cost, without any carving, is Rs. 1000/- per sft.

Thanks,
Sateesh

Arya Bhangy shutter alone (no hardware, no transportation, no installation) costs Rs. 2600 and beyond. It includes:
1. seasoned teak
2. 1.25" shutter thickness, price goes up if we go for 1.5"
3. carving - cost may go up based on carvings and design
4. PU paint
5. 25 year warranty

As mentioned above, hardware, transportation and installation are extra. If we provide the locks, bolts, etc., they will fix it as part of installation.

Delivery time - 45 days to 60 days. It has to be custom-made in Kerala.

Shutter for a 3.5'x7' door opening (around 19 sft) comes to Rs. 49k.

Any help with the cost of shutter if we provide material and let carpenter take care of labor will be appreciated. I guess PU paint and 25 year warranty make the comparison difficult.

Finally went with custom-made door. Cost breakup:
1. burma teak wood - 17k
2. carpenter charges for fitting - 3k
3. groove cutting etc., - rs. 500
4. carving - 3k estimate
5. PU polishing - 6k estimate
6. design - self

So, about Rs. 1600 per sft and a lot of work to design, purchase teak wood, test quality of wood, deal with carpenter, carving guy, painter and the teak wood patels.

Sahu,

Karnataka forest department has a industries division for home furniture wherein teak wood doors/frames are made as per the customers specifications. The teak wood is also guaranteed for a few years. Below is the link

Sahu,

Given the current market prices, you would have to spend anything between 25k-35k for a decent teak wood door with 1.5 inches thick finishing, 3'6" wide and 7' in height. Again the prices vary based on the frame size/ carvings/ side security window to main door/ handles/ hinges/ locks.
If you try purchasing hunsur teak, the prices for cutting/planning are more than burma teak in bangalore. Roughly its Rs.50/cft more than burma teak.

As regards to JJ doors, no idea about it.
