Hello All,
I would like to know if anyone is aware of Formal Quality testing professionals who test the quality of Construction at different stages of House construction?
I am currently believing completely on the Contractor's word for quality and no one is actually ensuring it on record. Architects do not come in picture on a daily basis . So any advice on quality testing is highly appreciated.
If any one is aware of such a service, please share the details.
Regards,
Swaroop

Hello,
Even I want to make use of such services if available, as I have kept my Architect out of loop now.
I am struggling hard every day to ensure quality work at all stages, spending lot of time at site.
Since i have very little knowledge about quality construction it is becoming difficult day by day to ensure quality construction.
So let us know availability of any such services and facilities .
Main problem is with the skilled and unskilled workers ,they don,t follow any standard construction practices,
if we question them ,they revert back saying they have many years experience and that's how they are doing things.
Building contractor will not be present all the time at the site to show the faults and he tries to protect the workers when we complain about them later.

Dear All.
we have Experienced such services but only quality check is like policing somebody with out desired result. As contract has been awarded without much documentation. unless your contractor is having in house labor it can not be controlled and monitor in small scale project with result. But unfortunately it is again sub contract system. so sub contract (labor) works for his profit with all type of shortcuts with much wastage of materials. ( we think contractor will bear the cost of wastage. in real it is not true, he tries to achieve through some type of shortcut).(it is just passing responsibility - Owner - to- contractor to subcontractor)= end rest compromise quality. it happens in almost all project of contracting system.
if we fix responsibility of each agencies working for your project . it will yield better result than now. if you have any clarification you can contact

Hi Swaroop,
I am afraid to say that you don't get any agencies at a affordable cost in this field .Either you need to employ a experienced site in-charge and they are very unreliable.Even most contractors finding it difficult to get one.Easiest way is to take suggestions from your architect and cross check at site by your self.Since the contractor by default has to follow the contract conditions you need to just monitor the day to day work.
You may question what happens when your are not at site, this can only be answered by a dedicated site in-charge.
Most of the works done on site can be quality analyzed by visual inspection by architects and engineers. If the contractor fails to maintain the quality he need to re do the job at his cost as per contract. But this depends up on how professional the contractor and the contract document is.

Murali correct the typo in the sentence
why are you feeling that Architects are Reliable and Civil Engineers are not unreliable?
either remove "un" or " not" to convey your intended meaning
