Hi All,
We are planning to utilize some part of terrace space for roof garden, if any of you have implemented can you please guide on the precautions to be taken while laying the RCC slab. Apart from water proofing, what else have to be taken care. Any pointers on this would really help.

This may not be of much help, but would like to share that I recently got the structural design done for my for my house plan. Structural Engineer asked few questions about the structure and mainly he was keen to if I have a Roof Top garden. I didn't but I got some details from him -

* During structural design, he will have to consider the weight that falls on that specific part of the roof so that he can calculate the amount of steel that needs to be used
* If there is a roof top garden, there MAY be a necessity to use different grade of concrete
* He had to consider a perfect water proofing compound so that there are no seepage down the link 10 years
* He had to consider weight of all the above
