Dampness on walls

Post by jackalbda »

Hello All,

My walls in 2-3 places had reasonable large dampness seen. When talked to the architect/contractor ( I am still in the defects liability period of construction), they updated that its because of two roofs at different levels. I have one set of roof 1ft below the normal roof level and they said water might be slightly seeping in through some cracks at the joining of these two roods. In fact in some other walls also, I see slight cracks and after rain, walls look soaked for 1-2 days though there is no dampness seen internally.

Right now contractor is going to apply Dr.Fixit sealant . I would like to know if this is a long term solution or just a workaround / temporary fix.

My previous house (rented - old house) also had similar leaks from the roof slab. The owner applied sealant & rubber paint but it lasted hardly one year. The same had to be done next year too. FYI
