Materials needed for Model House

Hi All,
I am looking suggestions/inputs on materials to make a model home.
Looking out for this option since the idea on paper or in 3dModelling software was/is not that convincing to me.
Basically some thing that I can CRAFT (the kind of home I have in my mind) and show it to the Architect and further modify and come up with plan.
