One of the dealers told me that following are the weights of Indus TMT bundles and that a given bundle may vary at the most 0.5 kg from these values:

8 MM --> 47.5 Kg
10 MM --> 50 Kg
12 MM --> 52.5 Kg
16 MM --> 56 Kg
30 MM --> 58 Kg
25 MM --> 46 Kg

He said when you buy if you see the weight of a given bundle to be 1 Kg or more than this then the dealer is cheating you in the weight. He said Indus TMT bundles come in standard weights and vary very less.

How much of this is true? Anyone knows..?

Random check of number of rod in bundle is what I do
For e.g. 3 rods of 16mm of 40ft length bundle is standard

This is what i came to know today,

08 MM --> 10 rods/BUNDLE --> 48 Kg
10 MM --> 7 rods/BUNDLE --> 53 Kg
12 MM --> 5 rods/BUNDLE --> 55 Kg
16 MM --> 3 rods/BUNDLE --> 63 Kg

ALL RODS IN INDIA ARE OF STANDARD 40FT OR 12 METERS ALSO 1 BUNDLE OF BARBENDING WIRE WILL BE 25 KG

wow too good i beleive this is for standard companies only like Indus , tata etc

one of the store keepers also told me that if we weight the same number of rods belonging to Indus and a local compant there will be a difference of almost 200 kgs/tonne which means we are not actully paying anything extra to buy indus as its heavy guage.

One can check the materialtree.com to figure out actual weight of each rod based on diameter. Useful calculator.

>08 MM --> 10 rods/BUNDLE --> 48 Kg - 4.74
>10 MM --> 7 rods/BUNDLE --> 53 Kg - 7.41
>12 MM --> 5 rods/BUNDLE --> 55 Kg - 10.67
>16 MM --> 3 rods/BUNDLE --> 63 Kg - 18.96/ROD
