Anchor Bolts for Swing

Hi,

I'm planning to have a provision made for Swing in my flat; however the problem is the apartment is almost complete and now for me to have a provision to install hooks for the swing means to chip the roof and weld the hooks; however the rods used in the roof are 8mm and 10mm thick and opening might give a small portion of 8mm thick rod and i doubt it holding the load of a 2 seater swing;

Alternatively my interior designer is suggesting to gofor Anchor bolts fastned using a special chemical from Hilti; and they claim each hook can hold 500kg when used spring kind of swings and 1000kg when using the traditional swing; have anyone heard of Hilti? Will anchor bolts be able to hold the swings; The bolts used are 16mm.

Kindly let me know your views.

Thank You,
Keshava Chandra

Hi ,
Keshava Chandra
You can use anchor bolt alone 3" size with ring to hold swing,Chemical is required in case you are looking for heavy industrial applications other wise anchor bolt alone can take the load.But make sure that you don't drill in a loose part of rcc slab.Since its apartment you can accept honey comb areas in RCC slab.

Thank You Praveen! the builder suggested that we can use anchor bolts; but he does not give an answer when I ask him if it is going to be strong enough to hold the swing, the swing alone is around 65-75kg and I'm on a heavier side aswell; so wanted to be a little safe on it.
