Are you observing the fungus on the external walls but inner portions ?

Most of the fungus will caused by the wetness of the wall. If there are any cracks on the external walls and water is entering into the wall and not drying out, then it will cause the fungus. So to prevent, you need to make sure that the water is not entering into the walls by applying white cement or putty.

thanks for the reply..

it is observed on the inner portions and no cracks found both on external and inner walls. This is 9 months old building and have not observed in first floor. So want to know is this common in newly built house in Bangalore or due to any other reason.

Even in New buildings this is a problem. check out for the source of water entering that portion in small qty continuously. Some of the source of this leak might be some leaky water lines(Water/sanitary/line from Overhead tank/solar Line) or above that wall, Bathroom/Toilet/washbasin....etc where proper waterproofing is not done. In Some cases of smaller sites, where the walls are built to adjacent buildings, from other side also water can enter your building. During sunny days, it may dry up easily. During the winter or rainy season, its side effects will be visible. If you can't identify, Call your contractor to investigate the root cause.
