Interior staircase in a Duplex House

Hi,

My house is in midst of construction and I am little need of help here with staircase in my duplex.
The staircase is planned next to kitchen which will eat away into dining area, I will need to use the area in best/optimized area.

I was planning to have very light yet elegant staircase but most of these pictures I come across on the net are of wooden. I do not want wooden becoz of my own reasons, atleast not whole wood, but may be with steel and wood combination.
Would you guys any idea how to go abt it?

If I go for regular brick&cement work for staircase, I know it will be more space consumption.
If it is steel+wood or steel stairs, would you know any place in bangalore where I can go check out some designs etc. I was hoping some these vendors might be having a design and per order they can come and install it at my house.
btw, the area I have for the staircase and dining area combined is 6X13 feet.

Any pointers, ideas are appreciated.

Many thanks,

Kavitha

even with brick cement you can have a stair case that seems not to take up too much space. Try floating stairs, talk to your engineer/architect and they can explain how to accomplish that and what ads / disads they have.

Thanks blrsiteseeker.
I think I got an idea on the hanging staircase, I shall try to get that designed after talking to the architect.

I am also in the same situation. Are there any shop
which will do the staircase on a turnkey basis ?

In my case the living hall, staircase and the dining
hall are all together (open), nothing really separates
them. I am looking for something that is of pleasing
design.

I'm in the same boat (although still on paper since my construction is yet to begin). My living, dining and stairs form a common block as well. I have seen some good designs on internet, but most seem outlandish. Hoever, a design that appeared in one of the recent issues of Times Properties was really noteworthy. Have attached a pic...apologies for the horrible quality of the image....it's taken after my son had his run of spilling water over it :-)

Rgds.
