Spoke to one UPVC dealer. Noted down these points - would love to get some validation on any/all of these

1. UPVC windows in general come in two flavors:

Hollow quality - 2 mm thickness; not LEED certified
Premium quality- 3 mm thickness; 100% "green"; LEED certificed

2. LG UPVC windows are manufactured in China. Of lower quality. Besides, there's a suuply issue of LG at present

3. Grills for UPVC windows are always fixed on inner plaster (why ??) - I asked abt cleaning windows from inside
which he says can be done provided MS grill has sufficient spacing

4. He deals with some "Veka" brand which costs as follows

i Hollow - 600-650/sq ft (ballpark, subject to various assumptions, I imagine sliding)
ii. Premium - approx 800-850

5. He claims good teak windows (maybe teak shutter and frame) will cost 1000/sq ft.

Yes cleaning will be problem if it's sliding window, you can opt for casement type with friction hinges which will be convienent to clean on both sides.
Most of the UPVC vendor which i enquired (LG, Komerling ) uses local/Indian hardware. Whereas Veka & Lingel uses imported German hardwares.
Note : Overall cost of UPVC will be equivalent to Honne/teak wood due to:
1. Fabrication cost & installtion will be high for upvc compared to wood.
2. If window sizes are small & opt for casement types windows.
