I have been recommended to use a camera to find out the water source in the borewell in detail rather than checking with a temporary motor as it would be more conclusive at this depth.

Does anyone have experience with:
1. Installing a temporary motor to drain out water to check whether the source is permanent or temporary
2. Using a camera to analyze the bore water source

How much will each cost? Which is more conclusive? Any recommendations for agencies that can get this done?
After much discussions, we decided to test with a temp motor as it is more practical. Contact: 9844001684
By this time, there was water in the borewell from 1050 feet to 40 feet. They brought in a temp motor for a depth of 600 feet, pumped water continously for 2 hrs. Looks like about 3,500- 4000 litres was pumped out continuosuly. They declared that there is water source in the borewell based on this. Cost 7 K

I was advised that we should checkehow long it will take to replenish water to the same level. To our surprise, water was back to 50 feet level in 2 hrs. We are not sure if there is a temporary source due to rains but there appears to be a source within 100 feet which was never visible during the original drilling.

We are planning to go for a single phase motor with capability to go for the maximum depth - but limit the pipe length to 600 feet for now.
The rationale;
- For our family size, we will need atmost 6 K litres per week
- 3 phase motors are more expensive to maintain and manage.
- We can add more pipe length upto maxmimum allowed for single phase motor (heard it is 800 feet?) if water table drops lower

Any advise from this forum users on the motor?

Guys, just another useful info for those who dug the bore well. Please get the depth of the bore well checked on the day you decide to install pumps.( may be you can use plastic thread with a spanner at the end , drop it in the pipe until it stops moving down ).Only after you know the actual depth as of the day , please order for pipe/cable length and motor.I lost around 25k , as i had initially dug 740 feet and ordered for 700 ft wires/pipes. Once they started lowering the motor , it got stuck at 519 ft and dint go down any further .. :(. Later i learnt that there were silts below 530ft and once they removed the drilling rod it just slid down closing entire borewell below it.Since the pipe and cables were already cut , i had to pay for the remaining 180+ feet.however , initially i had got 1inch water but now it is flooded with water source even at 500ft, so delighted....:). Please watchout for these factors and avoid wasting money..

Even I had a similar experience finally I have paid extra for cutting the excess pipe since the end fitting was fixed based on my measurement.

Very sad to say that my borwell slid completely after installing the pump.. :(. When i got it checked they said due to the motor vibration the mud above pump collapsed and fell on the pump.Believed that around 200ft mud is on the pump and its stuck in the middle now.I lost almost 2 lakhs and 80K lost in just 2 days. Please be aware of this and before installing the motor do take all the care to check the soil condition.

Also, can somebody suggest if it is possible pull the motor out by any means? Heard some pumps can be pulled out by flushing out the mud/water sitting above the borewell.Appreciate any help on this as this would atleast help me save the motor and pipe/wire costs.

Sachhi, I pulled my motor with the similar situation by calling a person who come from Kolor who have made special equipment's to pull motor. My borewell was 240 feet where he pulled with out much difficulties. He claimed that he can pull if the motor stuck even at 1000 ft depth by having GI pipe support around but I have not seen it personally and incase if he is not able to pull the motor he said he can make clean cut of existing pipe so that we can insert new motor. you may call him on 8553556837, 9901061479, 9620621245.

Thanks Balaji. Spoke to him and he said he will send the details. How much did he charge you for the entire process?

He asked initially 15 thousand stating with all the reason he need to get the vehicle from Kolor(He made some crane setup in the tractor). and negotiated hard to 8 thousand and I told him, I am not in a urgent and told him to do the work when he has some work near by to my area so that he save diesel. The price vary depends on the depth and situation. For my case he did not use the special equipment, He asked for 5 to 8 bath soap and he cut them in to small pieces and dropped in to the borewell and connected the water out let pipe in the crane equipment and with the help of 4 to 5 people slowly starting shake the pipe and made slowly loosen the surrounding and pulled the motor.
