jult - i agree with you. We did the soil testing in our site and they suggested recommended depth for the foundation. The structural design was done by a structural engineer through our architect but we didn't meet him directly. The architect decided to go with the minimum of the recommended depth and not over the minimum. That's where I was dissatisfied. Architect said the footing length/width/height was designed higher than the normal and hence it gives necessary support.

I think we should never compromise on the structural design.

my mestri advice me to go for standard size 5*6 or 4*6 he can save lil money in earth work haha but didnt go as per his guidance

i havnt done soil testing but my architect suggested to go according to plan wher footing sizes r more than normal n went according to the plan but while footing ther is only 1.6 gap between two footing the soil was not strong n jcb guy pulled all the soild so ther isnt any gap between two footings n later had to put tones in between them.

2day also im telling to construct the wall to roof level with out keeping window n door frames but he is not doing coz to save labour.

we have find lack of transparancy between designer and excutor . if this gap is minimized by a common construction management consultant which will save time and money and get value for the money. we have seen this form is not attened by well versed proffession. we request the client or admin to verify and reccomend such company s volunteerly contributes with out any string ( No expecation of generating business in contact) it will help this community to build better home in future. no post modem

Admin Team: We would like our memebers to recommend such companies/service providers. Also, we would like the service providers using this forum to share their RE gyan than giving round the bush answers. There are already couple of service providers doing that in this forum. We expect more such service providers share their gyan so that our members get educated and take wise decisions and build their dream home/apartment.

Bending and twisting cannot be acceptable . But in some cases it happens . Because Column rods my be slightly pushed at the time of concrete .

Solution 1. :

After slab concrete, Line thread has to be tied to make sure that all the columns are in same line . so that he can adjust the column rods to maintain the verticality .

Solution 2 :
At the time of column concrete make sure he places the cover block properly .

pls PM me if you need any information

Hi ,
Column vertical shift from floor to floor happens in case of mistakes. One way to fix it back is to bend the steel and bring it back to position .Using a line dhori ( thread) you can avoid these kind of situations in future. There is nothing to panic so much at this time(as long as its adjusted back). We are talking about just a G+2 or G+3 structures here.
Talk to structural engineer and take any additional precautions (in case its a critical central columns).Going by masteri or barbender words is always risk (as long as its not just a simple structure).Over a period of experience any one can suggest the steel required for simply supported structures.

Just as clarification - Architect is master at designing and planning( with good knowledge of structures) & structural engineer is master at columns, beams, footing, steel designs .
A Good architect and structural engineers association is required to get best project out come.Contractor should be guided by architect and structural engineer as per the design requirements (again it depends on the scope of work agreed ).Many times people just want plans and they will take up the construction on own (No harm as long as they are knowledge to at least basic levels of construction)

mestri n barbendng guy always suggest me to reduce the amount of steel how ever im going as per structural drawing n i will not be reducing steel quantity ...im very much satisfied by architect n structural plan.....but im not getting the quality work done by mestri

g+first floor is duplex n 2nd n 3rd is 2 bedroom rent ..n in rented plan engineer is saying that partition wall (4inch)will be changed according to plan n beams will be also changed n will be be placed on that wall ...is it neccessary to place beams on all the partition wall that is room n bathrooms or only place in between room partition wall ?
