Jalli wall disadvantages and how to overcome them

Hello members
We are planning to have jalli wall with bricks for ventilation and light in the internal garden wall ( three floor height) Has anybody has experience about this type of wall in Bangalore
Would like to know how to clean it or maintain regularly especially insects or lizards getting in
And we are planning to get skylight with partial open at one end for rain water getting inside the garden , whos to prevent pigeons or other birds getting in
