I need your inputs on solar water heaters (flat plate collector model - not the vaccum pipe models which come these days) of 150L capacity for our house.
Specs:
1. 150 ltrs
2. FPC model
3. Preferably all steel (304? or 202 grade?)
4. PUF insulated
5. No pump
Everyone is quoting the same price as Tata BP solar (even though they dont comply to same spec everywhere) even for non-steel, semi-steel, tank only steel, etc various models & say negotiable.
150L at 30K is too high is my opnion at this point in time when the prices of raw materials have come down drastically. Also, unkwown local brands are quoting the same prices as reputed brands.
Can you pl. suggest
1. which brands to look out for?
2. what should be the price range (ideally) for a buyer for a 150L FPC model
3. anything specifically need to be checked?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Suggestion needed - Solar Water heater
You are right Blrguy.
Prices of Solar products from Branded to Unbranded purely depends on your bargaining power. Nothing is fixed.
Secondly when you are investing a good amount for this, go for branded one which longer life, like TataBP, Anu, Gilma haute, V-Guard,..etc.
Even Sintex makes the solar water heaters based on Plastic Tank instead of steel tank with similar functionality, This is much cheaper.
Recently one of the bangalore based solar company is giving solar water heater on use and Pay basis. Here you just need to pay a refundable deposit of Rs. 6000 for a 200 ltr installation for a 30 period lease. and hot water will be charged at Rs. 5 paise/ltd and a minimum of Rs. 80/month. The maintenance, repair...etc everthing will be on the vendor part. you need not to worry on those aspects

now it is much more cheaper. It costs you Rs. 3,800/-(refundable) for a 200 ltr installation.
