Hi Pratap,
I also like spiral staircase.. Question is how much minimum space a spiral stairs take? Do you have any idea on this?

Hi Gout

for my duplex home we have planned the spiral staircase in the space of 9 X 8 feet. Anything more than this will be a added advantage.

Hi,

Just one more suggestion.
In the FF, the balcony near pooja room, if u can move to near kitchen, it will be very much useful.
You will surely will have some wet cleaning cloths etc from kitchen which need to dry up in sunlight.
Also you can keep ur gas cylinder in that balcony.

please think more from comfort of use perspective. Since your M.Bed room and study room etc is in SF, you need to use this staircase multiple times a day. Spiral is not as easy as normal stair case. If you have old people in ur house, you need to really rethink on this.

I would advise against Spiral staircase. Very inconvenient to use, some folks may get a reeling sensation while climbing the steps (i.e. their heads may get a spin like feeling) and most importantly a nightmare for old people.

Friends,

The advantage and disadvantages of spiral stairs is defending on the way you plan it. the one we have constructed has no such issues.

better you discuss with your structural engineer to plan as per your requirement before taking a call.

Dear Kiran,

you are right we have 18 steps and 19 riser the copy i have shared is not the final one. Also in real we made few changes in the shape of the staircase to make it more user friendly :) ! and its a semi spiral now for that matter.

Granite lying is in the process for the satires. I will share the picture to the same blog later.

Thanks,
Pratap
