My 30X40 house foundation
My 30X40 house foundation
Hi friends,
My site 30X40 is in Kamanhalli,Begur and i started my excavation work a week back. There is some progress on the work and wanted to get an insight of work/procedure that is carried out.
I am more interested in knowing whether the contractor is following the correct procedure for foundation.I am planning to go with RMC for footing and columns later.
I am attaching a series of snaps as per sequence numbers.
1) Foundation plan from structural engineer.
2&3) Excavation of approx 6'.6'' in all pits.(could see some water in couple of pits as my site is near to lake.Previously may be a lake bed.)
4) Big stones layed for soling.
5) Robo sand put on the big stones and then watered so that the pores get filled up.
6) 40mm jeely spread over.
7) Robo sand dry mixed with 40 grade dry cement and then dumped in the pits. After wards water is poured over it and then hammered gently. This is the step which i am conserned with. The structural engineer has clearly mentioned PCC (1:4:8) as per diagrams but these guys have carried out an easy proceedure saying this is what they do every where. Can some one please throw some light on wheter this proceedure is ok or is there some thing wrong going on?
thanks,
Jeet.

Re: My 30X40 house foundation
Sorry no experience in laying foundation on lake bed and beleive only fulltime engineering professionals can answer this question. However if you see one of teh forumn members comments its as below.
"Nothing to worry. you need to dig till the hard layer / min 6 feet. You may need to drain out the water and put the 1 1/2" jelly with dry mix(you need to put min 2 feet height atleast). Don't mix water so it will settle and arrest the water. after few days once its settled go for pillar fixing. I also had the similar problem and did the same way. I had totally 14 pillars and all had water min 4 to 5 feet.
Note: you need get a mono block water motor to remove the water in the pit and clear the surface and put the mix immediately. it will settled and will become very stronger that others. "

Re: My 30X40 house foundation
Hi ausraja, thanks.Yes i had gone through those said inputs.More interested to know if the procedure for foundation followed is correct.Especially the last step.

How many floors are u building ? cant you just build one or two floors and wait for it to settle before going for all the floors.
