Hi All, I am looking for suggestion for placing my UPS battery.
Wondering if it has to be placed inside the house or best to keep it outside (preferrably under stairs).
If its kept outside under stairs, is there a possibility of accidents when it rains heavily?
Also how much space is required for placing the battery?
Appreciate the response.
Thanks much,
Vishnu

Re: UPS Battery Placement in the house
The gas (emission due to chemical reaction) emitted by the Batteries or the electronic and electrolytic parts inside the UPS
is not good for health. Also many time there will be acid leakage in case of conventional lead acid batteries, coming in
contact with it will cause burn/injuries to skin. In all cases, ensure very well ventilated area for placing the UPS & Batteries
on a base made of plastic or wood. Preferably outside areas with good casing to keep off from Rains & must be away from
human/animals easy access.

Re: UPS Battery Placement in the house
Hi
The new gen UPS are zero maintenance batteries .Ups should be placed as neat to distribution board to avoid lengthy routing .Keeping UPS out side the main door will have issues to restart in case of trip due to heavy loads
Most of the time we never take UPS for full loads (its waste to take UPS for full loads ) so when power goes off when your intake is more then UPS will trip and if this happens in the night, you need to come out of main door and reset it.
Ideally you can use below stair ,utility, along with shoe rack locations should be used of UPS

You can keep inside if you have a provision and as said above, try to have it near distribution panel to avoid long running wires. Also, during wiring, make sure that you have the UPS provision for lights/fans, avoid for Geysers, ACs and high wattage points. Present day batteries and Inverter are safe to use indoor. I am using Microtek for last 2 years and no issues so far.
