I have been seeing posts in the forum and it has been very useful. I need some help in understanding to decide on the output which I can expect and tests to be done.
I started borewell in the point suggested by a Geologist. (selected 1 best out of two). The Geo Survey report mentioned that source
1. 180-200
2. 340-370
3. 530-550
4. 640-650
and suggested depth was around 700-800 ft, with approx yield at 425-475 gph
The borewell digging was started on Friday, completed by late night went upt0 805 feet
We hit the rock at 40 feet and then it was only rock till 805 feet. We had wet sources at 210, because the powder which came out was damp. Similar thing happned quite often there was lot of damp powder coming out.(at least 3-4 times inbetwen), around 550 it was totally wet as if the rock powder is mixed with water. I had been dreaming of seeing the water flow during digging, which did not happen. The drill operator was telling, if the type of rock changes then you will get good source. This did not happen almost we had the same rock through out except for 1st 40 feet. The drill operator at the end told it is 1" water, and always you cannot expect the water to flow if it is 1 " as you go deeper. He told as it is completely rock the water get stored and we may expect around 100 liters of storage per hour. per day around 1500 to 2000 liters.
I explained the details to the diviner and the also expressed with the dampness to expect around 1500 Liters per day.
When it was finally flushed out we could see the water flow, i was not able to understand the yield.
The rock powder is light grey in colour, simiar to the robo sand. I have asked the borewell guy to give me a detailed report.
Did any one have similar experience? and what is the output you can expect.
Need advise on the following:
1. Is there a place where I can get the rock powder sample tested and find out the water flow
2. How to establish the yield or test the yield
3. That type of pump to be selected
4. Where can we get the water sample tested

Like you I had similar experience . I believe, Getting good underground water source is more of luck than anythings else. For your own satisfaction, you can get it checked the water yield via video camera. Though i have not done, people say they may tell you accurately depth of water sources and yield what your bore-well has. For pump selection you can visit supplier he will guide you what specification you should choose.

thanks for your update.
When did you dig your borewell, what was the opinion of the drill operator and what is the source now. One more suggestion i got was to check out with a trial pump and then based on the output i can install the right pump.
compressor or submersible pump, with compressor pump will other sources open up?

Hi bsc2010,
Just want to know what kind of test geologist did before the borewell points he shown ?
i also called a geologist, dont know he just took the compass box and walked 2-3 araeas in the site shown 2 points. He did not use any electrods, machine etc....
I am thinking. i have been fooled.. did he did the same?

Hi All,
I had a similar experience when i drilled my Borewell last week. We hit the rock at 80 feet and casing was laid. After that same rock continued till 980 feet. We didn't find any water sources. Our budget was only till 1000 ft and we lost hopes and we once thought to give it up. But the operator said we have enough water and it would be sufficient for house as we could see little wet sand around 990 feet. We had to stop drilling at 1000 feet as it was already 10 pm. Operator also assured us that come in the morning i will flush water. It would have stored over night.
We came to the site in the morning and the operator flushed in front of us. We could see that water gushing out. I can say approx 1000 - litres. So my assumption is if water is not gushing out while drilling, it is not a good source. But if in case you had seen a wet sand earlier , there are chances of water getting stored overnight which can be pumped in the morning. As suggested by previous posts you can use temporary motor if in case you get it some where to test water connection.
In my case i decided to drill further. I good a source at 1005 feet. I continued drilling untill 1060 feet. Water was gushing out continuously while drilling after 1005 feet. Operator is said it is 1.5 inch. Hence i am planning to install a motor pump next week.

You need to use web camera test to test the bore well yield. Person would come to your site use the web camera and show you the potential yield. He will also record the video in CD for your future usage. He would charge 2000. I am planning to do this week. Please contact Shekar 9448444489 for more details.

Thanks Sunil for the reply. Please share your experience with the web camara test. I can do this only when I start construction as the borewell mount was welded with the casing pipe by cutting on 2 sides.
