Are you talking of terracotta flooring tiles, or roofing tiles?
I had inquired for flooring tiles in couple of shops on ORR (near Central/Intel office). I think they had quote around Rs. 20 per tile (don't remember if it was 10"x10" or 1'x1'). They also had a imported ceramic tile looking like terracotta, costing around Rs. 40 per sft.
Even the roofing tiles (manglore hanchu) was around Rs. 22 per tile.

I am also in the phase of choosing granite or tiles. The cost of tile are in the range of 80 to 90 Rs for 8 mm where we can get granite at that range maybe around 20 rs more. Granite we can polish latter but tile once lost it shine we cannot regain it latter .But when i inquired i got even granite in long run will absorb stains and get color change in some areas which cannot be regained but we can maintain the shines. In overall granite seems to be good option with strong/cost effective/polishing can be done latter though there will be color change . Tiles mostly are china made so not sure about the durability. Please share your thoughs.
@Kbp2308,,, Are you referring to red tiles which is being laid in the carparking area which is made of cement..... then i have seen many houses the top coating get peeled off and looks so bad in long run. I even thinking of laying sadrahalli as it is strong though look wise may not be best option.

Yes. I was referring to cement tiles, though not sure if they can be laid for car part. I had inquired for laying inside since we wanted a earthen look, but was told they are suitable for balcony etc. For parking I saw special tiles in some tile shops which look like the terracotta . Do not recollect the exact price. Probably around 60/sft.

Regarding Granite, I thought it is way more expensive that vitrified/ceramic tiles. Even it's laying and polishing charges are probably higher. Also, I have heard in the past that walking on natural stone (like granite) over a long period of time affects the bones in the heels. Not sure how far it is true. In any case, we personally do not like look of granite/marble much and hence are sticking to vitrified. Hope to find some tiles with rustic look.

@maheshv : You quoted you choosen to go for tile in the range of 50 to 60, but not sure which brand is available in that range. I inquired most of them are quoted at 80 to 90 without discount.. Can you please share if you have identified any good tile in that range ???

@sam_m400, my friend's friend has vitrified business in vidyaranyapuram, it is not a branded shop, I am thinking of buying from there as after looking at branded and unbranded tiles I do not find any difference. I also came to know all branded companies outsource the manufacturing process to factories in Gujarat

I can take you or guide you to the shop I mentioned above and introduce you to him, but you will have to take the discussion further with him.

I visited kajaria dealer and dound couple of tiles in the ranges of 52 ,62 etc but they are mostly plane ,not look like granite with waves ,pebbles ,flower patterns etc. If those are needed they quoted it is available at 149 range called etiquite varieties as it has shining and looked good. One sale person told it is not 100% scratch proof, as if some hard material are moved over it it can give scarches and break as that part will become loss. Cost is more than granite which will give same appearance , so yet to decide on granite or tiles.

Hi Sam.

I brought vertified tiles recently around 7500 sq ft for my house, i chose johnson marbonite and nitco for flooring, vertified 2X2 starts around 42 to 45 rs per sq ft the normal ones, if you want much superior quality the price goes up, try if you know someone in small towns you would get commercial quality of tiles which will not be supplied to cities ( as i heard from the shop persons) the commercial quality is fairly good and is reasonably priced. Just my thoughts.
