Hi All,
I am constructing the house now, so I am planning to purchase marble/granite soon.
So I need the suggestions on the following things,
1.Is it possible to get good marble/granite in the range of Rs.50 - 150?
2. How to find which marble/granite is good and how to choose them?
3. How the rates are calculated?
4. Please give me some reliable shops or area where we get them?
5. Is it any other option for flooring in owned house?
Thanks in advance.

granite prices go from rs. 50 (for sadarahalli grey) to about rs. 250 (that I know of) there may be more expensive ones. But remember the price of buying is not the only cost, layers charge quite a bit as well and if you want rounded edges etc. that adds to the cost. So be aware of all the aspects before you estimate and budget.
Rates are calculated on a per square foot basis. But most dealers provide slabs (in about 2'x3' or larger). When you provide your total area, they just give you the number of slabs that total that area. Only problem with that would be how the cutting and matching to the room floor works out, you could end up with a lot of wastage or have some irregular sized slabs in the floor. You need to get a good layer - who is conscious of this and does a good job of sorting through the stones you have and figuring out the best way to use them.
Choosing granite - take your architect or contractor. I don't know how else to do it. Besides, you can select and then when they send it, if you are not there during loading, you may still get slabs that don't quite match what you selected.
Many shops near dairy circle (bannerghatta road). Also, there are some on Magadi Road, rajajinagar.
Other options for flooring - vitrified tiles, clay tiles, ceramic tiles (all depends on the style, colours and price range you desire). Vitrified tiles have a wide range of colours and designs and come in a large range of prices. I liked them the best.

There are different methods used to cut granite. Gang Saw, Water Cut and kerosine. Gang saw granites are expensive. Kerosine cut granites are the cheapest ones. Gang saw Granites come in very large pieces. However if you are planning to use granite for the whole house and if it is duplex. You will be wasting a lot of money on Gangsaw Granite as they cut the granite into smaller pieces so that they can carry them upstairs. You can mix (Gang saw for the ground floor and water cut granite for the first) and match to save some hard earned money.

How do you find whether it is kerosine cut or water cut? . In chemical processing done then it is 100% kersone cut . is this right?
